Mission Statement

The Wilmington University Alumni Relations Department is committed to building and sustaining a lifelong relationship with the University and the Alumni in the spirit that defines Wilmington University. The Alumni Relations Department is guided by the University mission and institutional values of respect, integrity, opportunity, responsiveness, innovation, education, experience and caring for our Alumni as friends and partners.

Since January 2008, under the direction of Dr. Thomas B. Cupples, Assistant Vice President in the Office of the President, the new Alumni Relations Department has been actively making big changes.

In order to strengthen the department and better meet the needs and desires of our growing alumni we have added support positions and restructured the existing staff.

With her years of experience and commitment to the alumni of Wilmington University, Pattie Jennings will operate as Director of Alumni Relations where she will oversee the cultivation of personal connections. Gloria Johnson, as Director of Annual Funds, will continue to oversee development and alumni/corporate giving. This year she is spearheading the Wilmington University Green and White Ball which is our first ever annual fundraiser for scholarships. This event will highlight the regions’ best restaurants, beverages and entertainment to raise scholarship money, financial aid and other benefits for the students of Wilmington University.

Brandi Purcell continues to add her administrative expertise to the group as they update the alumni database and implement new software to keep in touch with the Alums. Jane West coordinates major events for the University and will now have prominent involvement with the planning and implementation of alumni events. New to the alumni group is Stefanie Whitby who will act as Director of Alumni Services. She will initiate plans and strategies for new alumni activities while also focusing on strengthening our Chapter Programs and enhancing our involvement in social networking.

As a group Alumni Relations will continue to promote and enhance our major annual alumni events such as our Fall into Fun Alumni Picnic kicking things off on September 12, 2009. Keep an eye out for a chance to contribute to our Alumni Coat Drive and our spectacular Honorary Donors Dinner. The Specialty License Tag Campaign is still going on with a chance for you to enjoy showing your pride in Wilmington University while also donating to the Annual Fund!Visit our website www.wilmu.edu/alumni where you can catch up on future Alumni events and even register to attend or offer to volunteer right online. While your there, think about becoming an even more active alumni member which could involve coming to our quarterly alumni meetings or becoming a Chapter Chair representative.
