FROM THE PRESIDENT
“Our student-athletes understand the importance of sportsmanship, school spirit and hard work.”
True Sportsmanship
All of us at Wilmington Universty are dedicated to nurturing an inclusive and diverse culture. We work collaboratively to build innovative programs that serve our global student body and enhance academic and co- curricular activities that enrich college experiences for our traditional and non-traditional students.
Our cover depicting WilmU student-athletes holding their native flags — a celebration of diversity — is a preview of a special pictorial feature that showcases why these athletes have chosen Wilmington University. I look at their faces and see a real sense of pride — the same pride and sense of accomplishment I see in all of our students.
According to Coordinator of Sports Information Dan Lauletta, our athletes also have great opportunities to experience NCAA Division II athletics at the highest levels. “Our teams compete for conference and regional championships on a yearly basis,” he says, “and that attracts potential student-athletes from all over the globe who strive to take our athletic programs to the next level, potentially competing for national championships.”
In addition to this pictorial feature, this issue includes many stories that feature alumni, staff and faculty who represent Wilmington University by making meaningful differences in their communities.
Please enjoy the issue. Sincerely,
WilmU is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II institution that competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, which comprises 14 schools from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. We provide our athletes the quality education they need and desire, and a foundation grounded in honesty, integrity and fair play. Thanks to our coaches and staff, our student-athletes understand the importance of sportsmanship, school spirit and hard work.
