Dual Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration

This dual degree option provides students the opportunity to earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration simultaneously.  Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Nurse Leaders with acquire the requisite skills to succeed in a complex healthcare environment. Graduates of the dual degree option will be prepared as executive leaders and entrepreneurs with both healthcare and business expertise.

Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program is designed for nurses who hold a master’s degree in nursing and offers an educational pathway to earn the highest clinically focused doctoral degree in nursing. Upon completion of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, students will possess forward-thinking clinical and systems leadership skills to promote the application of evidence-based practice to address the nation’s increasingly complex healthcare needs.

Master of Business Administration

The MBA program is designed to prepare students for management and leadership positions in all types of business enterprises including healthcare organizations, financial institutions, and not-for-profit organizations. The program emphasizes executive skills development, quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques, and the knowledge and professional capabilities necessary for the execution of complex managerial duties in today’s global business environment.

Program Information 

Admission, progression, and graduation requirements are a coordinated effort between the College of Health Professions and Natural Sciences and the College of Business. The dual Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Business Administration is 54 credits and 500 practice experience hours for students enrolled in the Advanced Practice DNP Concentration. Students enrolled in the Leadership DNP Concentration will complete 66 credits and 1,000 practice experience  hours. Students will be dual advised by the DNP Program Chair and MBA Program Chair.

To be considered for the dual DNP and MBA option, students must first be accepted to the DNP program. A second graduate application is then required to add the MBA in Healthcare Administration. Both degrees must be conferred at the same time during one enrollment.
