Biography
Dr. David R. Gomez is the MS of Management Chair and an Associate Professor for the College of Business at Wilmington University in New Castle, Delaware. In this role, Dr. Gomez leads the graduate management program, leveraging his extensive expertise in leadership, data analytics, and organizational performance to prepare the next generation of business leaders. He is passionate about integrating real-world experience into the classroom, ensuring students gain practical insights into management and business strategy.
Before joining Wilmington University, Dr. Gomez had a distinguished career in the airline industry, where he held various leadership positions. Most recently, he served as the Manager on Duty for the Philadelphia Hub Control Center at American Airlines, where he oversaw critical operational activities and collaborated with government agencies to ensure efficient hub operations. His experience at both American Airlines and USAirways includes managing large-scale customer operations, leading teams, and improving organizational performance through data-driven strategies.
Dr. Gomez holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, as well as advanced degrees in Information Systems and Leadership Studies. His professional expertise includes leadership development, quality improvement, and project management, which he applies in both his academic and corporate roles.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Gomez has been married for 38 years and is the proud father of three daughters, with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In his free time, he enjoys teaching martial arts, a practice he has been passionate about for many years.
