Biography

Dr. Claghorn is the former Dean, Business Studies, at Rowan College South Jersey.  She joins Wilmington University as the Director and Chair of the Human Resource Management program. In her role, in addition to Human Resources, Dr. Claghorn will be supporting the Business Management, Organizational Leadership, and Applied Business programs.

Dr. Patricia Claghorn is passionate about the importance of student success. As an experienced administrator working in higher education, she has served on “both sides of the aisle” and appreciates the importance of the integration of workforce readiness and relevance in curriculum. Originally trained and educated as a professional in Human Resource Management, Dr. Claghorn worked as an executive in the private sector for national retail and hospitality organizations, including Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts. These experiences prepared her well for her current role as the Director and Chair for the Human Resources Program.

Dr. Claghorn has worked in higher education since 1999, with experience in both K-12 and higher education. During that time, she developed strong grant writing skills and has written and managed county, state, and federal grants for education. She was also responsible for the development of a Division of Continuing Education at Gloucester County College – now known as Rowan College of South Jersey. Through these experiences, she developed excellent project management, organizational, and partnership skills that shewill use in her current position to initiate and manage new programs that benefit students.  She has been a leader in innovation and the promotion of online education.

Dr. Claghorn was one of the founding members of the RCSJ Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, an Executive Board Member of the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce, and was a participant on the Apprenticeship and Industry Committee of the Gloucester County Workforce Development Board.
