Last year's Wilmington University Bike to the Bay team.

A group of 14 Wilmington University staff, faculty, family and friends will participate in the annual Bike MS: Bike to the Bay this Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4. Bike to the Bay is a two-day 150-mile bike ride from Dover to Rehoboth and back again and is a fundraiser to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is a disease that affects approximately 400,000 Americans, and can often be extremely painful and disabling. Funds from this event will benefit the Delaware Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Wilmington University team has raised $2000 so far but is sure to raise more before the event.

“I am delighted that we have a team of Wilmington University employees that want to participate in the MS Bike to the Bay event,” said Eileen Donnelly, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management at Wilmington University, and captain of the team, “We have been training hard for this event and look forward to showing our support. We know that the money we raise can go on to help people who have been diagnosed with MS and their families.”

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system and causes numbness in the limbs, severe paralysis and sometimes loss of vision. MS is unpredictable and can appear without warning, and although there is no cure at this time, research is being done to try and fight the onset of MS.
