Wilmington University’s College of Technology is holding a Computer and Network Security Reception on Tuesday, September 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dover campus. This event is free and open to the general public.
Recently, there have been some great things happening in the Computer and Network Security program and the College of Technology would like to tell you about them. Attendees will get a chance to find out ways that they can increase their knowledge, skills, and marketability in the cyber security work force.
During the reception attendees will also learn more about the U.S. Cyber Challenge. As part of the U.S. Cyber Challenge, Wilmington University’s Computer and Network Security students will be competing in the DC3 (Department of Defense Cyber Crimes Center) Digital Forensics Challenge, as well as the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
Moreover, Wilmington University will be hosting cyber summer camps for high school students that do well in the U.S. Cyber Challenge competitions. A small number of the University’s Computer and Network students will also be selected for the opportunity to earn scholarships for service awards from the SANS Institute. The scholarships include free SANS training and certification. Recipients will act as instructors in the summer camps as part of their service requirements, for which they will also receive college credit.
Three faculty members will be on hand at the reception to demonstrate what’s new in the world of cyber security and how they plan to incorporate these innovations into their current curriculum. Attendees are invited to stop by, find out what’s happening, share their ideas, meet with instructors and fellow students and enjoy a tasty snack.
