Wilmington University Education Student Wins NASA Space Grant Award

Jeffrey Szczubelek, a Wilmington University student in the College of Education, has been awarded a $3,000 NASA/DESGC Undergraduate Tuition Award for the 2013-14 school year.

These competitive, merit-based scholarships are a joint effort of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and DESGC (Delaware Space Grant Consortium). Candidate selection for this award is based on academic achievement, standardized test scores, personal essays, recommendations and future academic promise.

Jeffrey, a 35-year-old resident of Middletown, Delaware, expects to graduate with his Bachelor of Science in middle-level math education (grades 6-8) in December 2013. He currently has a 4.0 grade-point average. He is now completing his final practicum prior to student teaching and plans to teach STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to middle and upper-level students.

More information on the scholarship and DESGC can be found at http://delspace.org/fs.html.
