Gear up for DigiGirlz Day on Friday at Wilmington University Dover Campus

Event Kicks Off With Visit from Senator Tom Carper

Happy DigiGirlz Day!

More than 100 eighth- and ninth-grade girls from across the state of Delaware will converge on Wilmington University’s Dover campus this Friday, May 3, for DigiGirlz Day, a day-long interactive event designed to encourage girls to explore higher education and careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

“Through this program, we seek to engage young women in lively discussions about technology, dispel the many myths about a STEM education, and engage the young women in hands-on fun activities,” according to the Delaware Department of Technology and Information[BLE(R1] , which is sponsoring DigiGirlz Day.

The event, which runs from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Friday, will include remarks from Secretary of Technology and Information James Sills III and U.S. Senator Tom Carper.

In addition to DTI, DigGirlz Day is co-sponsored by the Department of Education, the Delaware Center for Education Technology, Wilmington University and Microsoft.

For more information, contact Heather Vollkomer at the DTI at (302) 739-9824.
