WILMINGTON WOMEN FALL TO LE MOYNE, 2-0
SPRINGFIELD, MA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University dropped their season opener to the Dolphins of Le Moyne College, 2-0 in women’s soccer action on Saturday evening at the American International College Classic.
Le Moyne jumped on the board in the 13th minute when Courtney Paddock tallied an unassisted goal. The Dolphins added an insurance goal during the 52nd minute, giving them a 2-0 lead, as Christina Harrison scored an unassisted goal. Wilmington could not find the offense today, as the Dolphin defense kept them at bay.
Wilmington goalkeeper, junior Amanda Jenkins was stellar in defeat, recording 19 saves in net. Amanda Abbatiello notched three saves for Le Moyne. The Dolphins held a sizeable 36-5 advantage in shots, including a 7-1 mark in corner kicks.
Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 0-1 on the young season, while Le Moyne improved to 1-0 overall. The Wildcats return to the pitch tomorrow afternoon in day two of action at the AIC Women’s Soccer Classic, as they take on the host Yellowjackets at 12:00 PM.

LADY WILDCATS BLANKED BY AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL, 4-0
SPRINGFIELD, MA -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University were shut out by the host Yellowjackets of American International College, 4-0 in women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the AIC Classic.
The Yellowjackets got on the board first, as Sarah Tomlinson converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 19th minute. Teammate Sarah Boorazian tallied her first of three goals on the day in the 28th minute off an assists from Tomlinson, giving American International the 2-0 lead.
AIC added a pair of goals in the second half, including a tally by Boornazian off a feed from Nikki Muhlbert at the 57:16 mark. The Yellowjackets closed out the game’s scoring during the 68th minute when Boornazian completed the hat trick, burying a shot off an assist from Cassie Ashwell.
Wilmington’s junior keeper Amanda Jenkins recorded 13 saves in defeat, before giving way to sophomore Kendra Ness late in the game. American International’s Danielle Hodecker (four saves) and Kara Potts (two saves) combined on the shutout. The Yellowjackets held a 33-10 advantage shots, including a 5-1 mark in corner kicks.
Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 0-2 on the season, while American International improved to 2-0 overall. The Wildcats return to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Bears of the New York Institute of Technology at 4:00 PM.

WILMINGTON WOMEN FALL TO NYIT, 4-0
OLD WESTBURY, NY -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University fell to the host Bears of the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), 4-0 in non-conference women’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon.
Megan Emanuelo put the Bears on the board in the 13th minute when she connected off an assist from Mona Lekaj. The same combination struck again in the 29th minute when Emanuelo finished a through ball from Lekaj, to make the scoring 2-0 in favor of the home team.
Diana Cotilletta knocked home a loose ball during the 48th minute for NYIT, and Katie Hicks finished a throw in from Kekaj at the 67:09 mark to close out the scoring for the Bears.
Wilmington’s Amanda Jenkins recorded three saves in goal before giving way to sophomore Kendra Ness, who notched a save. NYIT’s Jenna Ament (zero saves) and Kathryn Miller (two saves) split time in goal for hosts. The Bears held a 15-4 advantage in shots, but the Wildcats held the 5-3 lead in corner kicks.
Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 0-3 on the season, while NYIT improved to 1-2 overall. The Wildcats return to action next Wednesday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Rams of Shepherd University in a 3:00 PM game.

SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY DOWNS LADY WILDCATS, 4-1
SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University fell 4-1 to the host Rams of Shepherd University, 4-1 in non-conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.
Thirteen minutes into the game, Shepherd’s Brianna Hines scored the first goal, on a breakaway from an assist by Danielle Koczera. Hines added a second in the 19th minute on another breakaway, with the assist going to Ashley Bryant. The Rams entered halftime holding a 2-0 advantage.
The second half started where the first left off, as the Rams added a third goal during the 51st minute, when Koczera found the back of the net, as Hines provided the assist. Just four minutes later, Hines wrapped up the day with another breakaway goal, completing the hat trick, on another assist by Ashley Bryant. The Lady Wildcats finally got on the board in the 87th minute, as freshman midfielder Angelica Appold scored from the top of the 18 yard box, on a beautiful pass from sophomore midfielder Ashli Gerlach.
The Rams had the upper hand in shots on goal with 17 to Wilmington’s eight. The Wildcats look for their first win this Saturday, when they play host to the Eagles of Post University at 12:00 PM at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.

WILMINGTON BLANKS POST, 3-0 FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON
NEW CASTLE DE -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University blanked the visiting Eagles of Post University, 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
The win marked the first in head coach Josh Ruggiero’s career and also was the Wildcats first victory of the season. Fresh from his wedding last night to former Wilmington soccer standout Colby Bugda, Ruggiero returned to coach his first conference game, and then headed off to his honeymoon with his new bride.
Wilmington wasted little time in getting on the board as sophomore midfielder Megan Whalen connected off a feed from classmate Kirsten Stallone and freshman Taryn Sanchez, that she buried in the upper right of the net, just 42 seconds into the game. The ‘Cats would keep the 1-0 advantage and enter the half holding the slim lead.
The Wildcats struck early again in the second half, as Stallone took a pass from freshman midfielder Amanda Pearl, and beat Post keeper, Morgan Luschenat one-on-one at the 49:18 mark. Freshman forward Taryn Sanchez added the ‘Cats third and final goal of the game during the 68th minute, as she took a ball from Stallone down the right side of the field, and served up a shot that bent just inside the upper left of the net.
Wilmington’s sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness recorded her first collegiate shutout, notching five saves in net. Luschenat had seven saves for the Eagles. The Wildcats held a 15-7 advantage in shots, including a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
With the win, Wilmington improved to 1-0 in the CACC and 1-4 overall, while Post dropped to 0-1 in the conference and 0-5 on the season. The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday afternoon, when they host the Rams of Philadelphia University in a CACC game at 3:00 PM.

WILDCATS AND RAMS BATTLE TO SCORELESS TIE
NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University battled to a scoreless tie with the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
Neither team could find the back of net, but both squads had quality chances to get on the board in regulation. The Rams blasted two shots off the cross bar, one in each half, and the Wildcats mounted some pressure late in the second half, but their best opportunity was turned away by a diving save from Ram keeper Sara Hall.
Philadelphia dominated play in the second overtime period, and had three strong chances to score, including a breakaway, but Wilmington goalkeeper Kendra Ness held her ground.
Ness recorded 12 saves in goal for the Wildcats, while Hall notched two saves for the Rams. Philadelphia held a decisive advantage in shots, 27-5, and were also ahead in corner kicks, 4-1.
Following the game, Wilmington’s record now stands at 1-0-1 in the CACC and 1-4-1 overall, while Philadelphia currently sports the same 1-0-1/1-4-1 record. The Wildcats return to the pitch tomorrow afternoon when they head on the road to tangle with the Clippers of Concordia College at 3:00 PM.

WILMINGTON DOWNS CONCORDIA, 4-1
BRONXVILLE, NY -- Sophomore forward Kirsten Stallone’s hat trick powered the Wildcats of Wilmington University to a 4-1 victory over the host Clippers of Concordia College in non-conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.
Just three minutes into the game, Wilmington jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after Stallone fed sophomore midfielder Sam Simpson, who buried the ball in the back of the net. During the 15th minute, Concordia tied the game at one, when Dani Davies tallied an unassisted goal. Three minutes later, Stallone scored her first of three unassisted goals on the afternoon to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. She would add another, just two minutes before the half, and sent the visitors into the break holding the 3-1 lead.
Stallone capped off her afternoon with her third goal at the 58:08 mark, giving her a hat trick and the Wildcats some breathing room. Wilmington would not need it however, as that would be the game’s final goal, with the ‘Cats coming away with the 4-1 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness recorded six saves in goal for Wilmington, while Aiellen Alvear notched four saves for Concordia. The Clippers held a 14-11 advantage in shots and also had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
With the win, Wilmington improved to 2-4-1 overall, while Concordia dropped to 3-2 on the season. The Wildcats return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on the Deacons of Bloomfield College in a CACC game beginning at 12:00 PM.

LADY WILDCATS TROUNCE BLOOMFIELD, 5-1
BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University cruised past the host Deacons of Bloomfield College, 5-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Watsessing Park.
Wilmington got on the board during the 31st minute as sophomore forward Ashli Gerlach headed home a cross off the foot of classmate Kirsten Stallone. The ‘Cats would add another goal at the 38:24 mark as freshman midfielder Angelica Appold finished a cross from Gerlach. Just 16 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Megan Whalen closed out the scoring for the first half as she buried a pass from Stallone, and sent the Wildcats into the break holding the 3-0 lead.
The ‘Cats would add some breathing room early in the second half when freshman forward Taryn Sanchez connected on a cross from Whalen during the 51st minute. Just two minutes later, Sanchez struck again, this time finishing a cross from sophomore defender Sam Simpson, giving the ‘Cats the 5-0 advantage. Bloomfield’s Missy Torzeski spoiled the shutout bid for Wilmington, scoring off a pass from Jerrica Lavooy at the 59 minute mark.
Wilmington’s sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness recorded three saves in net, while Bloomfield’s Danielle Blumberg stopped 15 shots. The Wildcats out-shot the Deacons, 34-15 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
With the win, Wilmington improved to 2-0-1 in the CACC and 3-4-1 overall, while Bloomfield dropped to 0-3 in the conference and 2-5 on the season. WILMINGTON CLAWS BACK TO TIE DELAWARE STATE
NEW CASTLE, DE -- Sophomore defender Danielle Niccoli’s goal with just over five seconds left in regulation helped the Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University to a 4-4 tie with the Division I Hornets of Delaware State University in non-conference women’s soccer action on Monday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
Delaware State got on the board first, when Danielle Miller connected off a pass from Savitre Bachoo during the 10th minute. Less than a minute later, Wilmington tied the game as sophomore forward Kirsten Stallone buried a pass from freshman midfielder Amanda Pearl. The Wildcats struck quickly again, when just over sixty seconds later, freshman midfielder Angelica Appold one touched a ball from Stallone to give the ‘Cats a 2-1 lead. At the 19 minute mark, the Hornets would tie the game at two as Leah Hontz scored on a direct kick from just outside the box. The score would hold and both teams entered the half tied at two apiece.
It was the Hornets who struck first again, when Danielle Miller punched home a rebound during the 69th minute. Wilmington tied the game just five minutes later on an unassisted goal by Stallone. Miller found the back of the net again at the 84:32 mark when she headed home a corner kick from Hontz. The Wildcats would tie the game at four, as Niccoli buried a loose ball with just over five seconds left to play.
The two teams could not get the offense going early in the overtime sessions, but Wilmington had two breakaway chances later in the second stanza. The best opportunity came from sophomore midfielder Ashli Gerlach, but her shot was turned away by Hornet keeper Courtney Haas.
Wilmington’s sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness recorded eight saves in net, while Haas turned away 11 for Delaware State. Wilmington out-shot the Hornets, 30-12 and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Following the game, Wilmington’s record stands at 3-4-2, as the ‘Cats are currently riding a five game unbeaten streak. Delaware State is now 1-5-1. NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University were edged by the visiting Knights of Queens College (NY), 1-0 in non-conference women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half, as both keepers kept the squads off the board. The Knights’ Jennifer Robbins broke the scoreless tie in the 77th minute when she headed home a corner kick from Caitlin Gracia. The goal would prove to be the game winner, as the Wildcats were held at bay.
Wilmington’s sophomore goal keeper Kendra Ness recorded 10 saves between the pipes, while Crystal Butler turned away six shots for Queens. The Knights out-shot the Wildcats by a 20-7 margin, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 3-5-2 overall, while Queens improved to 7-1 on the season. The Wildcats return to the pitch next Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on the Golden Falcons of Felician College in a CACC game beginning at 1:00 PM.

WILMINGTON FALLS TO FELICIAN, 4-3 IN OT

RUTHERFORD, NJ -- Sophomore forward D.J. Jacobowitz recorded three goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal six minutes, 11 seconds, into overtime, to lead Felician College to a 4-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s soccer victory over visiting Wilmington University on Saturday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Felician (5-6, 4-2) had yet to attempt a shot in the overtime period when Jacobowitz collected a pass from Jenna Krowl out to the left wing. Her 20-yard shot curled perfectly in the upper left corner of the goal to complete her first collegiate hat trick and end her team’s second league win in three days.
Jacobowitz gave the Golden Falcons a 3-1 halftime lead by scoring twice in the final minute of the opening period. The Wildcats, however, dominated the second half, out-shooting Felician by a 22-3 margin. Wilmington tied the game with goals in 78th and 81st minutes, but Felician goalkeeper Amanda Musarra made 12 saves in the half, many of the diving variety, to keep her team from falling behind.
Kirsten Stallone scored twice and Megan Whalenforced overtime for Wilmington (3-6-2, 2-1-1). Krowl finished with a goal and an assist and Musarra had a season-high 17 saves on the day, facing 31 shots.
The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Tigers of Holy Family University in a CACC game beginning at 4:00 PM.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Midfielder Jamie Lynn Wallace recorded her second consecutive four-goal game as the Holy Family University women’s soccer team knocked off visiting Wilmington University 7-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday afternoon.
The win improves Holy Family’s record to 5-6-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the CACC. The Tigers have won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Wilmington has overall record of 3-7-2 and a conference mark of 2-2-1.
After getting an early goal to lead 1-0, Wallace went off by scoring the team’s next four goals.
The first goal came at 21:08 after a header pass from forward Dawn Curry. Wallace made a short run before burying a shot into the lower left corner. Midfielder Jill Shank also assisted. Six minutes later, Wallace took a crossing pass from midfielder Ashley Antczak and deposited the ball into the center of the goal. The Tigers led 3-0 at the break.
Halftime couldn’t slow down Wallace as she scored again just four minutes into the second half. Back Lindsay Fisher played a through ball down the center of the field allowing Wallace to have a breakaway. Her final goal came at 52:15 after heading home a centering pass from Antczak to make the score 5-0.
Fisher opened the scoring at 1:49 by converting on a penalty kick after a handball by Wilmington in the penalty area. Forward Kaitlin Gavaghan scored the Tigers sixth goal with an unassisted goal at 58:23. Midfielder Kelly Killion netted the final goal with 46 seconds to go. Midfielder Lauren Stricker tallied an assist on the play.
Keeper Michelle Giambrone stopped five shots to earn her second straight shutout. Wilmington’s sophomore goalkeeper, Kendra Ness was busy in goal by recording 12 shots. Holy Family attempted 37 shots, while holding Wilmington to eight.

BEAR, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University were edged by the visiting Cougars of Caldwell College, 1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Saturday evening at Caravel Academy.
The two squads battled to a scoreless first half, as both keepers turned away quality opportunities early in the period. Caldwell broke the tie, midway through the second half, as Samantha Rinks took a through ball from Cecilia Westerberg and buried the ball past the outstretched arms of Wilmington’s goalie, Kendra Ness. That would prove to be the game winner, and the Cougars would hold on for the 1-0 victory.

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University fell to the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 5-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
Goldey-Beacom jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, as Karin Eriksson tallied an unassisted goal, beating the Wilmington keeper, one-on-one. Just three minutes later, the Wildcats tied the game when sophomore forward Ashli Gerlach connected off a feed from classmate Kirsten Stallone. The Lightning regained the lead during the 30th minute when Taylor Faunt buried a corner kick, and the visitors went into the half holding the 2-1 lead.
Wilmington tied the game again during the 59th minute, as Gerlach converted a penalty kick opportunity. Goldey-Beacom wasted little time in getting their lead back, as Eriksson finished off a cross from Victoria Myers just three minutes later. The Wildcats would not be done however, as freshman forward Taryn Sanchez knotted the game at three at the 67:20 mark, knocking home a pass from Stallone. The Lightnings’ Eriksson picked up her third goal of the game in the 78th minute, and it proved to be the game winner for the visitors. Marisa Valladares added an insurance goal in the 81st minute to secure the 5-3 victory for Godley-Beacom.
The Wildcats’ sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness notched nine saves in net, while Kristin Degenhardt was solid between the pipes for the Lightning, turning away 15 shots. Wilmington out-shot Goldey-Beacom by a 26-24 margin, but the Lightning held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University ended a five game losing streak, as they knocked of the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
Neither team could get much going in the first half, and the squads entered halftime tied at zero. The action picked up in the second half and came in bunches.
Dominican struck first, as Christina Evans connected on a pass from Angela Correia, scoring from 15 yards out and giving the Chargers a quick 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the half. The Wildcats would even the score at one, just two minutes later, when freshman midfielder Angelica Appold buried a pass from sophomore Sam Simpson. It wouldn’t be long before the ‘Cats struck again, as freshman defender Kory Webster netted an unassisted goal at the 51 minute mark, giving the hosts the 2-1 lead.
The 2-1 advantage for Wilmington would hold for most of the second half, but sophomore forward Kirsten Stallone gave the Wildcats some insurance when she tallied an unassisted goal with a little over six minutes to play. Dominican would answer right back when Jennifer Joyce scored just a minute later, but it would prove to be too little too late, as the ‘Cats held on for the all important conference victory.

LADY WILDCATS EDGED BY CHESTNUT HILL, 2-1

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Sophomore midfielders Tara Morey and Lauren Riiff teamed to power the Chestnut Hill College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over Wilmington University. In this afternoon’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, Morey scored the game-winner off a Riiff rebound 1:37 into the second half as the Griffins claimed their second conference win.
Riiff took a shot that caromed off sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness to the foot of Morey. She wasted no time depositing her second score of the afternoon and eighth of the season. The Chestnut Hill College (5-10, 2-6) defense protected their advantage in support of senior goalkeeper Kelly Evans. Evans made eight saves, including six in the first half. Riiff and Morey combined to score the initial Griffin goal before the Wildcats tied the contest on a penalty kick with just less than ten minutes left to go in the opening period.
Freshman forward Klaudia Furman was awarded a penalty kick at 35:37, which she converted to tie the affair before halftime. After Morey reestablished the Griffin advantage early in the second half, Wilmington University (4-10-2, 3-5-1) launched several attacks, including a shot off the crossbar at 63:17 and another off the post at 66:00. However, the Wildcats came away empty handed in the closing period. Ness made four saves in the loss.
The Wildcats return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon, when they host the Warriors of Nyack College in a CACC game beginning at 12:00 PM. It marks the final home game of the season, and prior to the game, Wilmington will honor seniors Caitlin Robinson and Kelsey LaPlume.

WILMINGTON HOLDS OFF NYACK, 2-1
NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University held off the visiting Warriors of Nyack College, 2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
Freshman forward Taryn Sanchez put the ‘Cats on the board during the 24th minute, as she knocked home a pass from sophomore midfielder Megan Whalen. Wilmington would hold the 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half, and entered the break up by one.
Midway through the second half, freshman defender Kory Webster buried a shot from 35 yards out during the 68th minute to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. Nyack’s Chauntel Veilleux headed pass from Alisha Smith to cut the lead to 2-1, but it was too little too late as the ‘Cats held on for the all-important conference victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Ness recorded a save in net for the Wildcats, while Whitney Shutt notched two saves for Nyack. Wilmington out-shot the Warriors by a 9-6 margin and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
With the win, Wilmington improved to 4-5-1 in the CACCC and 5-10-2 overall, while Nyack dropped to 5-4 in the conference and 8-6 on the season. The Wildcats return to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to take on the Lions of Georgian Court University in a CACC game beginning at 3:30 PM.

WILDCATS DOWNED BY LIONS, 4-1

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Gina D’Ambrisi collected two assists and the game-winning goal, while Kelly Lyons registered her 20th goal of the season as the Georgian Court University Lions soccer team ended its regular season with a 12-game unbeaten streak (8-0-4), defeating visiting Wilmington University, 4-1. GCU, after starting the season at 1-6-1, finishes the regular campaign at 9-6-5 (7-1-3 CACC) and solidifies second place in the CACC standings.
On a day on which the Lions honored its two seniors, Kristine Eppinger and Kat Gooch, Gooch initiated the game's scoring with a beautiful header off a D'Ambrisi crossing pass at 11:00 for her fifth tally of the year. D'Ambrisi followed with the eventual game-winner, knocking in a left-footed boot off the post at 31:24, her fourth goal of the season.
Wilmington University (5-11-2, 4-6-1 CACC) came out blazing after the half with a goal from Taryn Sanchez only 38 seconds (45:38) into the second stanza. GCU's Candace Seaton answered back with her eighth goal of the year at 50:11, giving the Lions a 3-1 advantage. Lyons closed out the scoring at 87:31, giving the freshman 20 goals in 20 games.
Shea Sullivan, in her second start of the season as GCU's goalkeeper, earned her first career collegiate victory, collecting nine saves on 15 Wilmington shots. Her counterpart, Kendra Ness, registered six saves on 17 GCU shots.
