WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY

WILDCATS FALL TO WEST CHESTER IN OPENER, 3-0

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University fell to the visiting Golden Rams of West Chester University, 3-0 in the opening match of the Wildcat Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Friday morning at Pratt Gymnasium. West Chester won game one by a score of 25-20, game two by a 25-16 margin, and completed the three-game sweep with a 25-15 victory in game three.

Wilmington was led by sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick, who recorded seven kills and 21 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess added six kills, while classmate Brittany O’Neill notched 21 digs from the libero position. Freshman setters, Shannon Rumple and Kerry Collins added 13 and 10 assists, respectively.

Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 0-1 on the young season, while West Chester improved to 1-0 overall. The Wildcats return to action later this afternoon when they play host to the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University at 1:00 PM.

WILMINGTON KNOCKS OFF EAST STROUDSBURG, 3-1

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University picked up their first win of the season, as they knocked off the visiting Warriors of East Stroudsburg University at the Wildcat Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Pratt Gymnasium. Wilmington won the first two games, 25-21 and 25-22, before East Stroudsburg took game three 25-14. The Wildcats won game four by a score of 25-21 to secure the match.

Wilmington was led by sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess, who recorded eight kills and six blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick added seven kills and 18 digs, while classmate Michelle Boyd notched eight kills. Senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry had five kills and three blocks, and freshman libero Kim Shropshire tallied 17 digs. Freshman setters Shannon Rumple and Kerry Collins recorded 17 and 15 assists, respectively.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 1-1 overall, while East Stroudsburg University dropped to 0-1 on the season. Wilmington returns to action tomorrow afternoon, as they compete in the final day of the Wildcat Invitational, taking on the Dolphins of Le Moyne College at 1:00 PM.

WILDCATS DOWN LE MOYNE, 3-1

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University downed the visiting Dolphins of Le Moyne College, 3-1 in volleyball action in day two of the Wildcat Invitational Tournament. Wilmington won game one 25-14, but were edged by the visitors in game two, 29-27. The ‘Cats took game three, 25-21, and won the match with a 25-17 victory in game four.

Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess led the way for Wilmington, recording 15 kills and seven blocks. Senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry added eight kills and four blocks, while sophomore opposite Kate Brown notched eight kills as well. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick had six kills and 20 digs, as classmate Brittany O’Neill recorded 23 digs from the libero position. Freshman setter Shannon Rumple had 25 assists and five blocks, while classmate Kerry Collins added 18 assists for the ‘Cats.

With the win, Wilmington improved to 2-1 on the season, while Le Moyne dropped to 1-3 overall. The Wildcats return to action later this evening, when they play the final match of the Invitational, hosting the Clippers of Concordia College at 7:00 PM.

WILMINGTON SWEEPS CONCORDIA, 3-0

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University closed out play at the Wildcat Invitational Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Clippers of Concordia College. Wilmington won game one, 25-19, took game two by a score of 25-13, and completed the sweep with a 26-24 victory in the third game.

Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess again led the charge for Wilmington, recording nine kills and six blocks, on her way to being named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Sophomore opposite Kate Brown notched seven kills, while senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry added seven kills and five blocks. Sophomore libero Christina Lessard had 11 digs for the ‘Cats.

With the win, Wilmington improved to 3-1 on the season, while Concordia dropped to 0-4 overall. The Wildcats return to action on Friday afternoon, when they travel to Millersville University to participate in the Dutch County Spiketacular. Their first match is against the Raiders of Shippensburg University at 2:00 PM.

WILDCATS FALL TO SHIPPENSBURG, 3-0

MILLERSVILLE, PA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University opened up play at the Dutch County Spiketacular with a 3-0 loss to the Raiders of Shippensburg University. Shippensburg took the first set, 25-14, set two, 25-12, and just edged the ‘Cats, 27-25 in set three to complete the sweep.

Wilmington was led by senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry, who recorded seven kills and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick added five kills and 13 digs, while freshman setters Kerry Collins added seven kills and seven assists, and Shannon Rumple tallied 14 assists and 12 digs.

Following the match, the Wildcats dropped to 3-2 on the season. Wilmington returns to the court later this evening when they take on the Falcons of Fairmont State University at 6:00 PM.

WILMINGTON EDGES FAIRMONT STATE, 3-2

MILLERSVILLE, PA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University regained their winning ways, in a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Falcons of Fairmont State University at the Dutch County Spiketacular on the campus of Millersville University.

The two teams battled back and forth, as Wilmington took the first set, 25-18. Fairmont State rebounded to take set two, 25-22, but the ‘Cats responded with a 25-17 victory in the third set. The Falcons took set four 25-17, but Wilmington’s 15-13 victory in the fifth and deciding set, gave the Wildcats the win.

Leading the way for Wilmington was senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry, who tallied 11 kills, three blocks, and eight digs. Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Boyd added 10 kills and six digs, while classmate Meghan Frick chipped in with eight kills and 13 digs. Freshman libero Kim Shropshire added 16 digs, while freshmen setters Kerry Collins (four kills, 18 assists, 12 digs, and five aces) and Shannon Rumple (seven kills, 17 assists, 18 digs) had solid all-around matches for the ‘Cats.

With the win, Wilmington improved to 4-2 on the season. The Wildcats return to action tomorrow morning, when they resume play at the Dutch County Spiketacular, taking on the Panthers of Adelphi University at 10:00 AM.

LADY WILDCATS UPENDED BY ADELPHI IN HEARTBREAKER

MILLERSVILLE, PA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University fell to the Panthers of Adelphi University, 3-2 in day to of action at the Dutch County Spiketacular on the campus of Millersville University. Adelphi took the first two sets 12-25 and 15-25, before Wilmington battled back to take the next two sets 25-23 and 25-19. The Panthers took the fifth and deciding set, 15-10 to record the victory.

Wilmington was led by sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick, who posted 13 kills and 21 digs, to record the double-double. Also posting double-doubles were freshmen setters Shannon Rumple (19 assists and 10 digs) and Kerry Collins (15 assists and 20 digs). Sophomore opposite Kate Brown added nine kills, while classmate Brittany O’Neill had 15 digs.

Following the match, Wilmington dropped to 4-3 on the season. The Wildcats return to action later this afternoon, when they close out play in the Dutch County Spiketacular, taking on the host Marauders of Millersville University at 12:00 PM.

MILLERSVILLE, PA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University shook off some tired legs, as they rallied to defeat the host Marauders of Millersville University, 3-2 at the Dutch County Spiketacular. The two teams traded sets, as Wilmington took the first set 25-19, and Millersville took set two, 23-25. The ‘Cats won set three 25-21, but again the Marauders rallied back to take set four 25-16. Wilmington finally pulled away with the win with a 15-11 victory in the fifth and final set.

Wilmington won the first set, 28-26, but fell in next three consecutive sets, 9-25, 17-25, and 20-25.

The Wildcats were led by senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry, who notched six kills and six blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick added eight kills and nine digs, while classmate Kate Brown chipped in with six kills and four blocks from the right side. Freshman libero Kim Shropshire had 15 digs, and sophomore Brittany O’Neill added eight. Freshmen setters Shannon Rumple (4 kills, 13 assists, 5 digs, 2 blocks) and Kerry Collins (12 assists, 10 digs) had solid efforts for the ‘Cats.

Following the match, Wilmington dropped to 5-4 on the season. The Wildcats return to the court later on Friday evening, when they take on the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University at 8:00 PM

The Wildcats were led by sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess, who notched seven kills, three blocks and two aces. Classmate Kate Brown added seven kills and three blocks, while senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry chipped in with four kills and six blocks. Senior Adrienne Melvin had six kills and nine digs, while sophomore libero Christina Lessard notched 10 digs. Freshmen setter Shannon Rumple had 12 assists, three aces, and eight digs, while fellow frosh Kerry Collins added 10 assists and two aces for the ‘Cats.

Wilmington won the first set, 25-23, but fell in the second set, 25-15. The Wildcats rebounded to take set three, 25-22, but the Pioneers responded with a 25-5 win in the fourth set. C.W. Post won the match with a 15-13 victory in the decisive fifth set.

Wilmington was led by sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess, who had seven kills and five blocks. Sophomore Michelle Boyd added six kills and 12 digs, while classmate Meghan Frick had five kills and 10 digs. Senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry had four kills and eight blocks, while sophomore libero Brittany O’Neill recorded 16 digs. Freshmen Kerry Collins (14 assists, 13 digs), and Shannon Rumple (15 assists, five digs, six blocks) had solid all-around efforts for the ‘Cats.

GEORGIAN COURT DOWNS WILDCATS IN THREE

NEW CASTLE, DE -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University were swept by the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University, 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Wednesday evening at the Pratt Gymnasium. Georgian Court took the first set 25-15, won the second set, 25-17, and completed the sweep with a 25-23 victory in set three.

Wilmington was led by senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry, who posted eight kills and two blocks. Sophomore opposite Kate Brown added five kills, as did classmate Caitlin Hess. Freshman setter Shannon Rumple had four kills, nine assists and five digs, while her freshman counterpart Kerry Collins also added 10 assists.

Georgian Court was paced by Ann Casado’s 13 kills and eight digs. Ana Cruz notched a match high 17 digs, while Janelle Murdock added six kills and 10 digs. Setter Lisamary Figueroa recorded 31 assists, four kills, and nine digs for the Lions.

Following the match, Wilmington dropped to 0-1 in the CACC and 6-7 on the season, while Georgian Court improved to 1-0 in the conference and 8-3 overall. The Wildcats return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Southern Connecticut State for a tri-match between the Owls and U-Mass Lowell beginning at 1:00 PM.

The Owls took the first set, 25-15, but the Wildcats responded to take set two by a score of 25-17. Southern Connecticut rebounded to take the third sent, 25-21 and completed the win with a 25-19 victory in set four.

Wilmington was led by sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick, who posted 10 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess added eight kills, while senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry had six kills and three blocks. Freshman setter Shannon Rumple had 12 assists, while her classmate Kerry Collins dished out 10. Sophomore libero Brittany O’Neill recorded 15 digs for the ‘Cats.

The Owls were led by Jenna Tammel’s 16 kills and 14 digs. Leah Filonuk added a match-high 17 kills and eight digs, while setter Manjit Chase had 27 assists. Robin Priest recorded a match-high 24 digs for the hosts.

Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 6-8 on the season, while Southern Connecticut improved to 14-3. The Wildcats return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to take on the Clippers of Concordia College in a match beginning at 12:00 PM.

BRONXVILLE, NY -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University defeated the host Clippers of Concordia College, 3-1 in non-conference volleyball action on Sunday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center. Concordia won the first set, 25-15, but the ‘Cats rebounded to take the next three sets, 25-12, 25-18, and 25-12.

Wilmington was led by sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess, who notched a match-high 17 kills and three blocks, while hitting at an astounding .696 clip. Senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry added 10 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick had six kills and 11 digs. Freshmen setters Kerry Collins and Shannon Rumple each had 17 assists, while Collins had 13 digs and Rumple had 10. Freshman libero Kim Shropshire chipped in with a match-high 18 digs for the ‘Cats.

Concordia was paced by Amanda Margendant’s 11 kills and 16 digs. Julianne Gillespie added 11 kills, while Jayme Wise chipped in with seven kills, 24 assists, and seven digs. Amanda Byrd had 14 digs for the Clippers.

With the win, Wilmington improved to 7-8 overall, while Concordia dropped to 2-10 on the season. The Wildcats return to the court on Tuesday evening, when they travel to take on the Tigers of Holy Family in a CACC match at 7:00 PM.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Setter Jen O’Connor and outside hitter Aly Keihl each had a double-double and outside hitter Katie Hornback nearly had one as the Holy Family University women’s volleyball team defeated visiting Wilmington University, 3-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Tuesday night at the Campus Center.

The Tigers won an exciting match with set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 16-25 and 25-20. Holy Family, winner of three of its last four matches, is 6-9 overall and 2-0 in the CACC. Wilmington is 7-9 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

O’Connor, filling in at setter for the first time since 2005, recorded a match-high 35 assists and added 10 digs. Keihl had a career-high 12 digs and 10 kills for her first career double-double. Hornback led the Tigers with 13 kills. She also had nine digs and five service aces in the win. Libero Jordan Beland came up huge defensively with a career-best 30 digs.

For Wilmington, middle blocker Ashley Carberry led the offense with 11 kills. Setter Kerry Collins helped out with 22 assists, while fellow setter Shannon Rumple added 11.

The Wildcats played good team defense with four players recorded double-digits digs. Libero and defensive specialist Brittany O’Neill and defensive specialist Adrienne Melvin both led the team with 13 digs. Outside hitter Meghan Frick added 12 digs and nine kills. Defensive specialist Kim Shropshire recorded 10 digs.

Wilmington returns to the court on Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on the Golden Falcons of Felician College in a CACC match beginning at 1:00 PM.

RUTHERFORD, NJ -- Wilmington University hit .228 as a team and held host Felician College to a .020 attack percentage in its 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-12) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivisional women’s volleyball victory on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

Wilmington’s sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess, the leading attacker by percentage in the CACC, hit .421 with match highs of 11 kills and seven blocks. Classmate Michelle Boyd racked up eight kills and 15 digs while also hitting .421. Amber Doran led Felician (2-12, 2-1) with nine kills.

Set one was tied as late as 16-16 before the Wildcats began to pull away. Leading 21-17, Wilmington took advantage of three consecutive Golden Falcon attack errors to put the set away. The second set followed a similar pattern, as two Fabiana Schavicchio service aces and four Felician errors helped turn a 13-13 deadlock into a 22-17 Wildcat edge. The Wildcats hit .296 and scored the last seven points in cruising to a set three win.

Wilmington (8-9, 1-2) owned advantages of 10-1 in aces and 10-6 in blocks. Freshman setter Kerry Collins added 18 assists, while sophomore Christina Lessard added nine assists and seven digs.

WILMINGTON RALLY FALLS SHORT IN 3-2 LOSS TO USP

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University rallied from two sets down to force a fifth and deciding set, but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to the Devils of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Tuesday evening.

USP took the first two sets by scores of 27-25 and 25-22, before Wilmington responded to take the next two, 25-23 and 25-16. The Devils came out in the lead early in the fifth and final set and held on for the 15-13 victory.

Wilmington was led by sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess, who notched 19 kills and three blocks. Outside hitter Meghan Frick tallied 14 kills and 22 digs, while senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry notched seven kills and five blocks. Freshman setter Kerry Collins had 27 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore setter Christina Lessard recorded 18 assists and eight digs. Senior defensive specialist Adrienne Melvin had 20 digs, and sophomore libero Brittany O’Neill had a match-high 41 digs for the ‘Cats.

The Devils were led by Christine Pushak’s match-high 21 kills. Kirsten Lechner added 14 kills and 27 digs, while Andrea Cardine had seven kills and 32 assists. Libero Claire Tauschek recorded 34 digs.

Following the match, Wilmington dropped to 1-3 in the CACC and 8-10 overall, while USP improved to 3-2 in the conference and 4-9 on the season. The Wildcats return to action on Thursday evening, when they travel across town to take on the rival Lightning from Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC match beginning at 7:00 PM.

WILMINGTON, DE -- The Wildcats of Wilmington University downed the cross-town rival Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference volleyball action on Thursday evening at the J. West Jones Center. Wilmington won the first set 25-10, before receiving a bit more of a challenge in the second set, as the Wildcats held off the hosts, 27-25. The ‘Cats then closed out the match with a 25-16 victory in the third and final set.

Wilmington was led by senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry, who notched a match-high 11 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Boyd chipped in with seven kills and seven digs, and hit a .500 clip on the match. Senior defensive specialist Adrienne Melvin and sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick each had three kills and 13 digs apiece, while freshman setter Kerry Collins dished out 19 assists for the ‘Cats.

Goldey-Beacom was led by Chantal Pierre, who recorded seven kills. Kellyn Nolan added six kills and eight digs, while Roni Shaner had 19 assists and 16 digs. Libero Christine Hudock chipped in with 18 digs for the Lightning.

With the win, Wilmington improved to 2-3 in the CACC and 9-10 overall, while Goldey-Beacom dropped to 2-5 in the conference and 6-8 on the season. The ‘Cats were led by freshman middle hitter Sheri Hunley, who posted six kills and two blocks, while hitting .750. Senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry chipped in with six kills and also hit at a .750 clip. Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess notched seven kills, while classmate Michelle Boyd added five aces and seven digs. Senior Adrienne Melvin had seven kills and three aces for the hosts, who recorded 17 service aces for the match and hit .468 on the evening.

Freshman setter Shannon Rumple had 23 assists and nine digs, while freshman libero Kim Shropshire had nine digs for the ‘Cats.

Wilmington trailed 8-1 to start the first set, but a 7-3 run to end the game, gave the Wildcats a come-from-behind, 25-23 win. The ‘Cats took the second set by a 25-9 score, and then completed the sweep with a 25-21 victory in the third and final set.

The Wildcats were led by senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry, who posted a match-high 14 kills and six blocks, all while hitting a .522 clip. Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess chipped in with nine kills and four blocks, and hit .400. Freshman setter Kerry Collins had 17 assists, seven digs, and three aces, while classmate Shannon Rumple added nine assists. Sophomore libero Brittany O’Neill had nine tigs for the ‘Cats.

Post was paced by Kerry Smith’s 10 kills and 15 digs. Natasha Loving added 10 kills and eight digs, while setter Taylor Doyle chipped in with 34 assists. Libero Rosie Fernandez had 12 digs for the Eagles.

'CATS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT WITH SWEEP OF CHESTNUT HILL

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- In Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, the Chestnut Hill College women’s volleyball team challenged Wilmington University this evening. The Wildcats grabbed an early lead as they won the opening set 25-11. In the second set the Griffins gave a rallying effort, but the Wildcats closed the set with a 10-3 run for a 25-15 win. Wilmington University used their momentum for a 25-9 win in the third set to post a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-9) conference victory.

Wilmington University (15-11, 8-4) came out with their best offense efficiency in the opening set, as they hit .545 (14K-2A-22TA) as a team. Leading the way, senior middle blocker Ashley Carberry delivered eight kills in the match. In addition, sophomores Michelle Boyd and Caitlin Hess each provided seven kills. Hess also spotted four aces as she shared the team lead with sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick; the Wildcats totaled 17 aces in the match. Boyd recorded eight digs for the Wildcat defense.

Senior outside hitter Marianne Finfrock and freshman middle hitter Maddie McGee finished with seven and six kills, respectively, to lead the Chestnut Hill College (1-15, 0-11) offense. They were responsible for a 7-5 run in the second set, before the Wildcats responded. Freshman setter Katherine Tohanczyn supplied nine assists. Defensively, freshman libero Alyssa Miller led the team with nine digs.

The Wildcats return to the court on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to take on the Rams of West Chester University in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 PM.

Senior Adrienne Melvin added seven kills and 14 digs, while classmate Ashley Carberry chipped in with seven kills and five blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess had six kills and 10 blocks, while classmate Brittany O’Neill added 19 digs from the libero position. The ‘Cats took the first set, 25-19, won the second set by a score of 25-15, and completed the sweep with a 25-14 victory in the third and final set.

The Wildcats were led by their two seniors, fittingly on “Senior Day”. Adrienne Melvin tallied nine kills, while Ashley Carberry added four kills and four blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick added seven kills, 12 digs, and four aces, while classmate and middle hitter Caitlin Hess notched eight kills, five blocks, and hit an astounding. 727 (8-0-11). Freshman setter Kerry Collins dished out 26 assists, while sophomore Brittany O’Neill had 13 digs from the libero position.

Caldwell was led by Cory Roesing, who had seven kills and 11 digs. Titilola Alao added five kills and six blocks, while Amber Mosher chipped in with six kills and two blocks. Setter Lauren Ross tallied 24 assists, while Kathleen Estes had a match-high 14 digs for the Courgars.

The Wildcat defense was stout all afternoon, holding the Cougars to just a .009 hitting percentage (27-26-107). Wilmington was just as good on the offensive end, recording 29 kills to just six attacking errors, a .256 percentage.

Georgian Court was in control for the first two sets, winning the first by a 25-18 margin and the second by a score of 25-16. The Wildcats came back in the third and held on for a 25-23 win. It looked as if the visitors would continue and force a fifth and deciding set, but the Lions rallied late to take down the ‘Cats in the fourth set, 26-24.

Wilmington was led by sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick, who posted eight kills and nine digs. Classmate Kate Brown added six kills, while senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry chipped in with five kills and two blocks. Freshman setter Kerry Collins dished out 10 assists, while sophomore Christina Lessard had eight assists and two digs. Sophomore libero Brittany O’Niell recorded a team-high 15 digs fot he Wildcats.

Philadelphia just got by Wilmington in the first set, winning by a 26-24 margin, but the Wildcats responded to take the second set, 25-20. The Rams held on to take set three 25-21, but again Wilmington answered back and won the fourth set by a 25-21 score. The Wildcats got the lead early in set five, and held on for the 15-13 victory to take the match.

Wilmington was led by sophomore outside hitter Meghan Frick, who posted a career-high 19 kills and 26 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Caitlin Hess added a match-high and career-high 20 kills and four blocks, while senior middle hitter Ashley Carberry chipped in with 11 kills, nine digs, and three blocks. Freshman setter Kerry Collins notched career-highs in assists, with 49 and digs, with 23. Sophomore libero Brittany O’Neill registered 18 digs, while classmate Christina Lessard had 16. Kate Brown added five kills, seven digs, and five blocks for the ‘Cats.

The Rams were led by Katie Miller’s 15 kills and 29 digs. Celena Rendon added 14 kills and 22 digs, while Nicole Berkstresser chipped in with 13 kills and six blocks. Setter Lauren Hoover had 28 assists and 11 digs, while her counterpart Adrienne Stigura had 21 assists and 12 digs. Libero Natalie Amodei had a match-high 31 digs.

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- The fourth-seeded Wildcats of Wilmington University were no match for the top-seeded Lions of Georgian Court University, as they were swept 3-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) playoffs. The Lions easily dispatched the ‘Cats with scores to 25-13, 25-18, and 25-9.

Wilmington was led by sophomore opposite Kate Brown, who notched five kills. Senior Adrienne Melvin and sophomore Brittany O’Neill each had six digs.

Georgian Court (29-4) was led by Ann Casado, who had nine kills, nine digs, eight assists, and five aces. Crystal Murdock chipped in with nine kills, while her sister Janelle added seven. Stephanie Rivera had eight kills, while setter Lisamary Figeuroa dished out 29 assists. Libero Ana Cruz recorded 13 digs.

Following the game, Wilmington closed out their season with a 19-16 record.
