Bloomfield College and Philadelphia University have been selected to win their respective divisions as the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) basketball preseason poll was released today. Bloomfield garnered twelve first place votes to top the North Division poll, while Philadelphia was voted first in the South after picking up thirteen first place nods. The 13 head coaches conducted the voting.

Post University finished second in the North with 73 points. The Eagles were followed by Caldwell University with one first place vote (59 points), Felician College (59), Nyack College (39), Dominican College (31), and conference newcomer Concordia College (14).

In the South, Goldey-Beacom College finished second with 61. The Lightning were followed by Holy Family University (51), USP (35), Chestnut Hill College (32) and Wilmington University (16).

Wilmington finished 7-20 last season, and was 4-12 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. This year the Wildcats look to rejuvenate their program under the guidance of new Head Coach, Mike Gallagher. The team returns 10 of 16 letter winners and all but one starter.

Wilmington is lead by senior forward, Antonio Sherrod, a third team All-CACC selection last season. He led the Wildcats in scoring (17.1 points), rebounding (6.9) and free throw percentage (.787). Sherrod was second on the team in steals (34), and ranked fifth in the conference in scoring, seventh in rebounding and free throw percentage.

The Wildcats open up the 2009-2010 season on Monday, November 16th, when they travel to take on the Hornets of Delaware State University.
