Volleyball Blanks Chestnut Hill, 3-0

The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University downed the host Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Thursday evening at Sorgenti Arena.

Wilmington took the first set by a 25-12 margin, won set two by a score of 25-9, and completed the sweep with a 25-16 victory in the third and final set.

The Wildcats were led by junior Meghan Frick, who posted seven kills, eight aces, and six digs. Sophomore Paige Norvell added eight kills, while senior Brittani Leathern chipped in with six kills. Sophomore Shannon Rumple had 21 assists and nine digs, while junior Brittany O’Neill recorded 11 digs.

Chestnut Hill was led by Cassie Benson’s seven kills. Elisabeth DiGregorio had a match-high 14 digs, while Bobbie Chukuntarod had 11 digs.

With the win, Wilmington improved to 9-8 in the CACC and 13-14 overall, while Chestnut Hill dropped to 0-16 in the conference and 4-23 on the season. The Wildcats return to the court on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Caldwell College for a tri-match between the host Cougars at 12:00, followed by a non-conference tilt against Southern Connecticut State at 2:00 PM.
