Georgian Court’s Kelly Lyons scored four goals to help power the Lions to a 5-0 victory over the Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Investors Savings Bank Field.

Lyons gave Georgian Court a speedy 1-0 lead when she put in a Candace Seaton pass at 2:21 for her sixth game-winning score of the year. Alley Abbate fed Lyons for another score at 25:32 as Georgian Court entered the half up, 2-0.

She clinched the hat trick at 57:13 on a Taylor Reinecke dish before ending her scoring spree at 80:28 on an assist from Shannon Mastrogiovanni. Freshman Latifa Kelly scored her first collegiate goal on a penalty kick at 81:16 made necessary by a Wilmington handball, icing the victory for the Lions.

Georgian Court goalkeeper Lindsay Hammond (Sr.) made five saves in securing her eighth shutout of the year. Wilmington’s Brooke Eveler (4-3-1) had four saves. The Lions out-shot the Wildcats by a 13-9 margin, and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Following the game, Wilmington dropped to 8-3-1 in the CACC and 9-6-1 overall, while Georgian Court improved to 10-2 in the conference and 12-7 on the season. The Wildcats close out the regular season on Thursday evening when they travel to take on the Hornets of Delaware State University in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 PM.
