The University of Delaware had four of the top five finishers on its way to the team title at the Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic, hosted by Wesley College at Wild Quail Golf Course.
The Blue Hens Kevin McLister shot a seven under 137 (68-69) to win the individual title by five strokes. His teammate Greg Matthias turned in matching 71s to finish two under on the par 72, 6,794 yard course.
Delaware's Justin Martinson (75-72) and Stephen Scialo (73-74) tied for third at 147, along with Michael Coppa (76-71) of Goldey-Beacom.
Jerry Temple of Delaware and Wilmington's Jeff Whiteside both shot a pair of 74s to tie each other for sixth place.
The Blue Hens' Mike Barrow (76-73) was eighth, followed by Wilmington's Dino Nardo (76-74) at 150. Wesley's Chris Osberg (78-73), Goldey-Beacom's Wesley Hood (78-73) and Daniel Ott (77-74) rounded out the top 10 tied at 151.
Delaware won the team title by 30 strokes with rounds of 287 and 285 for a 36-hole 572. Wilmington's B team finished second, right ahead of the Wildcats' A squad. The B team shot 602 (304-298), five shots ahead of the A team (314-293).
One shot behind the Wilmington A squad was Goldey-Beacom after rounds of 312 and 296.
Wesley's A and B teams rounded out the field. The A team rebounded from a 315 first round for a second 18 of 306. The B team shot an impressive 313 in the first round, but fell to 327 in the second round.
The Wolverines placed two other golfers from the A team in the top 20, along with one B teamer. Bobby Ehrhardt shot 77 and 77 to finish at 154 in 17th place. Rob Zimmerer was three shots back in a tie for 19th (80-77). Tied with Zimmerer was Clayton Bunting of the B team with rounds of 77 and 80.
The tournament is named in honor of former Wolverine student-athlete Andrew Geyer, who passed away in February 2009 at the age of 22 during his senior year at Wesley.
