The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington University battled to a scoreless tie with the visiting Chargers of Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer action on Monday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex.
Neither team could find the back of the net, but both squads had quality chances to get on the board in regulation. Wilmington just missed late in the second half, when a shot by sophomore Kory Webster clanked off the top of the crossbar. The Wildcats mounted some pressure in both overtime periods, but could not find a way to get the ball past Dominican keeper Valentina Sturchio.
Wilmington’s Brooke Eveler (3-2-1) had six saves, while Sturchio recorded 11 saves for Dominican. The Wildcats held a decisive 23-12 advantage in shots, and also had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Following the game, Wilmington’s record now stands at 7-2-1 in the CACC and 8-4-1 overall, while Dominican sports a 4-2-2 mark in the conference and an overall record of 5-5-3. The Wildcats return to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon when they host the Marauders of Millersville University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 PM.
