The Wildcats of Wilmington University were swept by the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Gymnasium. The Chargers took the first set 25-20, won the second set by a 25-13 margin, and completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory in the third set.
Wilmington was led by sophomore middle hitter Sheri Hunley who posted five kills. Classmate Paige Norvell added a match-high 15 digs, while juniors Brittany O’Neill and Meghan Frick each had 10 digs.
Dominican was led by Michelle Fiorvanti’s 14 kills and 11 digs. Courtney Heard added seven kills, while Whitney Ranger had six kills, 12 digs, and 31 assists. Libero Jordyn Fuller had 15 digs while Catherine Giordano posted 10 digs.
Following the match, Wilmington dropped to 5-7 in the CACC and 9-13 overall, while Dominican improved to 10-3 in the conference and 16-8 overall. The Wildcats return to the court on Tuesday evening, when they play host to the Tigers of Holy Family University in a CACC contest beginning at 7:00 PM.
