Freshman Daniel Ott shot a 36-hole total of 144 (72-72) to help lead the Wildcats of Wilmington University to a first place finish at the Dominican College Charger Challenge.
Wilmington posted a team score of 307 in the first round on Sunday, and followed that with a 296 in the second round on Monday at the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, New York. The ‘Cats finished first among the 10 teams in the two-day, 36-hole tournament played at the par 72, 6,894 yard course. Wilmington finished just two strokes ahead of runner-up Adelphi University.
After Ott’s medalist win, fellow freshman Paul Tighe came into the clubhouse carding a 147 (75-72) and finished in third place. Freshman Brian Barrow (155 – 81-74, 10th place), senior Matt Hall (158 – 80-78, 17th place), and freshman Jeff Whiteside (163 – 80-83, 25th place) rounded out the finishers for Wilmington.
On the individual side, freshman John Perrine posted a 152 (75-77) and finished in eighth place.
The Wildcats return to action later this week, when they host the Wilmington University Fall Invitational at Frog Hollow Golf Course in Middletown, Delaware.
