Dan Lauletta, who previously served in the media relations office at the University of Delaware and Juniata College, has been named the Coordinator of Sports Information at Wilmington University, effective January 3.
A native of Landenberg, Pa., Lauletta will update and maintain the Wilmington University Athletics website including schedules, game results and stats, team roster, posting press releases and photo galleries. He will also be responsible for writing and distributing press releases to local and national media outlets, designing and printing all athletic publications as well as coordinating athletic photos and media guide production.
“We are excited to welcome Dan to our Wildcat community,” Wilmington Athletics Director Linda Van Drie-Andrzjewski said. “With his past experience in sports information and strong knowledge of collegiate athletics, he will be a valuable addition to our athletics staff. Anytime you can add someone of his character and skill set, you feel fortunate and excited for what he can bring to your team.”
A 2009 graduate of Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, Lauletta brings over six years of NCAA athletics experience, having both played and worked at the Division III level before moving on to work at the Division I level.
“It’s both an honor and a privilege to have a chance to work in athletics at Wilmington,” said Lauletta. “I not only look forward to being a part of the current success on campus but as well as the new beginnings for what lie ahead for the Wildcats.”
Most recently, he spent a year and a half at the Delaware in the media relations department, working as the multimedia and media relations assistant. He was the primary contact for the volleyball, field hockey, swimming and diving, and baseball teams, while also assisting in the creation of the multimedia department. Lauletta helped promote the student-athletes and athletic department though video projects including post-game highlights, interviews, features, and a bi-monthly online web show, Blue Hens Beat.
He began his sports information career at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa., following graduation in 2009. He started the new media aspect on the athletics website with season previews, post-game highlights and interviews, as well as being the online play-by-play announcer for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Lauletta was the primary contact for the field hockey, men’s basketball, swimming and diving, baseball, and track and field teams while at Juniata.
While at Elizabethtown, he was a four-year letterwinner on the baseball team, helping the team win three Commonwealth Conference championships as a pitcher, being named a team captain as a senior.
