In order for a student to be eligible for participation in athletics at Wilmington University, the conditions listed below must be met.

Incoming Freshman MUST:

  • Go through the NCAA Eligibility Center.
  • Complete all amateurism questions through the Eligibility Center.
  • Attain a minimum GPA of 2.00 in 14 core courses, during High School.
  • Receive an 820 on the SAT (in the math and critical reading sections)
    or a 68 on the ACT.

These requirements must be met for a student to be considered a qualifier. A qualifier is eligible for athletic practice, competition, and financial aid. If only one of the above criteria is met, the student will be considered a partial qualifier. A partial qualifier is eligible ONLY to receive institutional financial assistance and to practice. A partial qualifier may not compete in his or her first year of attendance at Wilmington University. A nonqualifier is not eligible to practice, compete or to receive athletically related financial aid.

How to Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center

All prospective student athletes who are incoming freshmen MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

  • To register with the Clearinghouse, log onto the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse web site web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter
  • For a list of approved core courses offered by your high school, visit the NCAA Eligibility Center web site.
  • For information on your Eligibility center status, call the automated system at
    1-877-262-1492. You will need your PIN number and Social Security Number.

How to Send Your SAT or ACT

Transfer Students from a Two-Year College

Any student who transfers from a two-year college to Wilmington University must complete an academic year in residence unless certain criteria are met. A two-year college transfer may become immediately eligible for practice, competition, and financial aid if:

  • The student has graduated from the two-year college; or
  • The student has attended the two-year college for at least two full-time semesters;
  • The student transfers in a minimum of 12 credits for every semester of full-time enrollment at any collegiate institution and;
  • Has a minimum 2.0 GPA in all courses that would have been transferable;
  • Pass a minimum of 6 credits during the last regular semester (Fall or Spring) of full-time enrollment
  • Be certified as an amateur by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Transfer Students from a Four-Year College

Any student who transfers from a four-year college to Wilmington University must complete an academic year of residence before being eligible for athletics participation, unless he or she meets certain exceptions. All transfer students must have a signed release on file.
